Each week, I look forward to doing this post, as I do the "Thankful Thursday" one because I get to stop the "rat race" for a short time and really focus on what is important and how much there is that is meaningful and for which to be thankful.
Today is my mom's birthday. Each of her birthdays after she beat cancer 15 years ago has taken on new meaning, and we are grateful for each and every one. No one knows the day or the time, so as I've gotten older, I've become more thankful for each of my own birthdays, as well. They are all a gift; a gift of time. How we use that time is up to us. It is a precious gift with much possibility. I am making a real concerted effort, whether in our homeschool or in our everyday life, to not get caught up in the "small" stuff, the things that truly do not matter and try to always have a grateful heart in all things. Not the easiest of tasks, but I'm working on it! :-)
On a little bit of a lighter note, my dad wanted to take us all out for breakfast this morning to celebrate my mom's birthday. Although she is blessed to sometimes be able to work from home, she had a meeting and was unable to join us. So, we went and had a celebratory breakfast in her honor, lol! :-) We did take her back some takeout, though! :-) The photo below is of the kiddos and my dad.
I am linking up with Michelle for her Make Life Meaningful Monday.

You're so right - rather than look at each birthday as "getting older", we should look at it as a precious gift and especially another year of being surrounded by family :) Thanks for sharing!
I hope you so enjoy the time with your Mom. I would give anything for one more day.
Love the birthday celebration 'without' her. Too funny. :)
I love that you are taking the time to appreciate your mother. I miss mine so much. It really bothers me when I see / hear someone taking theirs for-granted. (And I hear it all too often)
that is too funny that you went to breakfast without her!!! lol.
I love your way of looking at birthdays...I need to adopt that as I get older!
Wonderful, Lisa! And, I too am chuckling about Mom's birthday breakfast while Mom is at work! Knowing moms, however, I'm sure she was delighted that you were all able to get together to share a meal! Thanks for linking up with me, Lisa!
