This series has been a wonderful one to participate in and I hope that some of the things I have shared have helped, informed or inspired you. We are not on an easy journey as homeschoolers, but it is a rewarding one and I know that we all feel incredibly blessed to have such an opportunity
On Day 1, I wrote about how hands-on learning is so important. Day 2 covered field trips and how important they are to real learning. In Day 3's post, I addressed humor and how it is so necessary for real love of learning to take place. Yesterday, in Day 4's post, I shared about how to select curriculum that fits a child, not the other way around.
Today, on this last day of the series, I will be sharing about how much we have enjoyed programs in the community and beyond that are geared toward homeschoolers. There are many quality programs out there.
Our local library offers programs once a month and they have included a myriad of topics, including Chemistry and Native American culture.
We have attended homeschool bowling at our local bowling center.
Museums, such as the Franklin Institute and Philadelphia Art Museum offer science and art classes respectively.
Our local YMCA offered a homeschooler's swim and gym class.
My daughter has been taking homeschool sewing lessons for 3 years now and makes amazing things, like this handbag she made me for Christmas (lined and all!) :-)
Some of these programs, like the ones at the library are free of charge. Others, like the bowling alley, are extremely reasonable. Karate studios and dancing schools advertise frequently in this area that they have classes for homeschoolers. Even if they are not currently offering something, inquire! They do not have a lot of business during the day and I'm sure would welcome the interest.
There are so many organizations that are marketing to homeschoolers today. We are an untapped market! :-) You will find something to suit your children's interests and abilities with just a little research.
Have fun with whatever programs you find. The Kiddos surely enjoy theirs! :-)

Great ways to connect with others! Our first year of homeschool, I quickly learned that it was not what TO do, but what NOT to do, otherwise we were out of the house more than in ~ looks like you have a great balance!
We like to participate in activities offered through various places, too. These types of things are great alternatives (or additions) to homeshool co-ops. I'm glad you mentioned them! ~Heather @ Principled Academy/the Crew
We just moved to a new city and I am so excited to find out what is available for us! My kids are still really young and family members are so skeptical of homeschooling because they think my kids are just going to live under a rock. Um, no. My kids will actually be out in the world while their kids are stuck in a school all day!
We're so lucky to have a bowling alley and a roller skating rink in the community that offer deals to homeschoolers. The community college also offers classes to our kids -- that's how my son got hooked on Lego robotics.

Your kids have some great opportunities. Some that we enjoy are book club, 4H, and theatre trips.
I find that if I'm not careful we don't actually stay home and school! LOL There's just so much to choose from, and I think that's something that most people who aren't homeschoolers don't realize.
