This week I am sharing my daughter's smiley face cookies. She is SO creative. Other than coming in and out of the oven (she let me do that much, lol!), she made these herself. For those of you that read my blog regularly, you also know that she sews, too, and has made some pretty amazing things. Not bad for 9 years old, if you don't mind me bragging! ;-) ;-)
Kiddo #4's Smiley Face Cookies
For the Dough: 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
2 tablespoons packed light brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 egg
2 cups all-purpose flour
Beat the butter, powdered sugar, brown sugar and salt in a large bowl until light and fluffy. Add the egg and beat until well blended. Add the flour, 1/2 cup at a time, beating well after each addition. Shape the dough into a disc; wrap tightly in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour or until firm.
Roll out the dough to 1/4 inch thickness between 2 sheets of wax paper. Cut out circles with a 2- 2 1/2 inch round cookie cutter. Place the circles 1 inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake for 22-27 minutes or until the edges are light golden brown. Cool the cookies on cookie sheets for 1 minute. Transfer to wire racks to cool completely before frosting.
Frosting (this is my go-to recipe for anything that needs frosting)
1/3 cup soft butter or margarine
3 cups confectioners' sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla
about 2 tablespoons milk
Frost the cookies and add chocolate chips to make face. Enjoy! :-)

How cute these cookies are !!
Thank you Lisa for the invite, I'm glad to be joining your party :)
How did I miss that you were doing a linky party for recipes? Super cool. I think I vaguely remember about it, but wow, I think it's grown a ton since then. Well done~!!
I will try to remember and join in.
Those biscuits look great too by the way.
Thanks so much for featuring my Ground Beef Soup. Your daughter's cookies are so cute and yummy looking. Have a wonderful Tuesday :)
Hey, Lisa~
I love these....I pinned your post, ; I hope that's okay...I could really use that glaze recipe at times and now I'll have it at pinterest when I need it. Thanks.
You guys are so creative in the kitchen! Good for you.(I'd like to bring my kids over to soak up some of that creativity--and good cooking! And to have fun with your guys LOL)
Also, Lisa, I rad your com on FB last night when you posted your recipe abt the thumbnail but I was so bone tired, I absolutely couldn't move (Kev's stomach bug has not completely left, it seems and so yesterday was another round of it.....poor kid...then I discovered that in our "loft"--or office, three bookshelves had collapsed. The mess up there is unfathomable; I'm so nuts with it but eventually I have to get up there and redo the entire area.Books, binders, offcie supplies...all over...uggh. Maybe it's a blessing in disguise. it'll force me to revamop the whole space...which I usually do in Aug to prepare for the new schl year.) Anyway, what I started doing when a thumbnail doesn't show up and I really want it to, for ex, with Timmy's trophy and my post on "Hoops Trophy Day" yesterday that had a few pics, is this: I upload from my computer ( or the memory card in the USB port) the picture I want and then I C and P my post link above the picture.
I've had to do that with the mem Mon posts too b/c it's the only way I can get that badge to show up.
(You can also drop and drag pictures too....it's so much easier. Apparently FB had that option for quite some time. I just discovered it....so you can have a window open on your comp with the photo you want ( say from the "My Pictures" section of the "my documents" and then just drag it into the spot on your FB wall that you want it to be. Easy, if you haven't done it before. (If you have, sorry for the long winded explanation)
Gppt get my garlic knots linked..."See" you soon.
Have a great day, friend.
