Visit to the PA Farm Show

Last week, we were asked by friends to attend the PA Farm Show with them. It was SO much fun.  I didn't know that the PA Farm Show is the largest agricultural show in the country and this was the 98th year.

And, there was so much to see, learn and do.  We learned that PA is not only the nation's largest producer of mushrooms, but of hardwood.

We saw lots of animals (kiddos were thrilled) and were amazed and just how beautiful some of them were.

Kiddo #1 was happy that at the Penndot booth, he was able to get his study guide for his driver's permit and license. :-)  The kids also all posed in front of a snow plow, many of which have been getting lots of use these past 2 months in PA.

They played a few rounds of miniature golf

and see some of a tractor pull

We viewed PA artifacts, including a weapon used in the Battle of Gettysburg

and got to see submissions from 4H participants from all over the state (made kiddos look forward to entering their projects this year)

We sampled apples grown in PA, saw a life size butter sculpture made from the milk from PA dairy cows, learned about PA's national parks, fishing and other natural resources.

What a fun and educational day!  :-)

It's Tuesday, and time for our fun party of recipe sharing!  :-)

This week I am sharing my daughter's homemade Vanilla Fudge.  It is SO delicious-- just like the boardwalk variety.  I know she would be tickled if you took a look at her recipe and photos.  It is linked in the first spot below.  :-)

Homemade Vanilla Fudge

My daughter made this for a 4H project and it didn't last the night here!  :-)  Tasted just like the boardwalk variety!

2/3 cup butter, softened
2 cups brown sugar
3/4 cup evaporated milk
1 1/4 teaspoons vanilla
2 cups confectioners' sugar

Beat together the butter, brown sugar and evaporated milk.

Microwave on high for 6 minutes.  Stir after every 2 minutes.

Stir in vanilla and confectioners' sugar.  Beat with mixer until well blended.

Pour into pan lined with parchment paper.

Put in refrigerator to cool and harden.

Enjoy!  :-)
