1/2 cups (1 stick) butter, softened to room temperature
2 cups firmly packed dark brown sugar (we only had light in the house and it was awesome!)
2 eggs, well beaten
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup pecan pieces (optional)
Confectioner's sugar for sprinkling
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter; add the brown sugar and eggs.
Mix thoroughly; add the flour and baking powder and blend. Stir in the vanilla and nuts. Pour the misture into a well-greased 8-inch square baking pan and bake for 35 to 40 minutes. Cool in the pan, then cut into squares
and sprinkle with the confectioners' sugar, if desired.
Enjoy! :-)
