Remembering Christopher Columbus
We made a pretty neat craft today commemorating the voyages of Christopher Columbus. We used a blue posterboard, drew the continents and colored them green, and made 3 ships that we could "sail" back and forth. It was hands-on and a lot of fun. It was on October 12th that his crew finally spotted land, thus us doing the project today instead of the observed holiday on Monday. :-)

That's such a cool project!
I like your new profile picture! I love your Christopher Columbus projects. I made boats from egg cartons at my library program (I am a children's librarian) and they did not come out nearly as cute as yours!
What a great idea!!
Lisa, what a cute project! The boats turned out great.
Thanks! :-) I modified the idea a bit from what I found at Enchanted Learning, especially since I didn't have empty egg cartons. :-) I actually used plastic tops from water bottles and attached our cardstock boats to them. We put a dab of playdough in the bottle top so the toothpick from the sail could be put into it. Does that make sense? lol. It was as lot of fun!
Awesome project! :) It's a really good idea and I love the way the boats turned out!
I hopped over from the Friday Blog Hop, and I follow you on GFC :)
I really love your blog, I'll be visiting frequently and hope you can take the time to check out my blog sometime, and follow back too! :)
